New Module
Maya or Aiyah Finally got our first Maya 3D Animation lesson underway on Monday..
Sad to say I wasn't pleased with the teaching approach that the new lecturer had shown. Compared to both previous lecturers who hardly gave us a hard time on acquiring skills on media technologies and theoretical stuffs. Not to mention those patience shown in teaching us the uses of Adobe and Marcomedia softwares. (Credits to both!)
From the information given by ERC, I knew the current Maya lecturer is a well-known animation player and had accomplished lotsa great achievements in this industry. But that doesn't proofs he's real good in passing down the "mayaing" skills. In fact, he actually bought upon the type of practice that's rather more suitable for advanced Maya learner. The way that he boardcasted his first Maya performance simply put us (the beginners) off. And i mean OFF! He was teaching at a speed of which at that time i could only think of 3 words to summarize. "What the F..."
I mean Right! He did dedicated his time to make some videos so that we can watch it over and over again (that's what he kept asking us to do) so in enabling us to master the technics even before we go for our next lesson. So let me ask you, am I not wrong to conclude that I'm able to stay at home, watch those DELICATED videos repeatedly, try to finish up those 4 assignments, 1 mini project and a show reel then mail it to him by the end of this module.
Basically i don't know how the schedule is planned. But the way things go, I don't see much purposes in learning at the centre. I should have thank him before i left the class that nite.
For presenting those videos for us to download, for showing us the abilities he got with Maya and for twice sarcastically mentioning "I won't be that lenient to you guys from the next lesson onwards. There won't be any more luxury for you all."
Maybe the lecturer doesn't know that most of his students are WORKING ADULTS who have to work in the morning, with some even have to spend time with their kids at night. Surely they will appreciate if the lecturer can let them have more time to learn and absorb these stuffs rather than pushing them to learn in what supposely known as a "Part-Time" course. Makes me wonder am i paying to learn or rather paying to suffer.
